D-DAY 60th ANNIVERSARY - JUNE 2004
USS CORRY SURVIVORS TRIP TO NORMANDY FRANCE
AT THE CHATEAU DE FONTENAY - JUNE 4, 2004
The chateau is located about two miles from the
Saint-Marcouf battery.
In WWII, the chateau was occupied by the German kommandant and had
to be bombed during the invasion to drive the Germans out.
We spent an afternoon at the chateau, dining on fine
French food and wine,
and seeing an exhibit and a film on the wrecks of Normandy by French diver
Bertrand Sciboz.
